Poland Probes Reported Plot to Assassinate Tusk, Defense Chief

(MENAFN) Polish police are investigating a report of a possible assassination attempt against Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, the Interior Ministry announced Sunday.

Interior Minister Marcin Kierwinski and Tomasz Siemoniak, the minister overseeing intelligence services, ordered action on the case, Interior Ministry spokesperson Karolina Galecka said in a post on X.

Security service representatives were also expected to convene an emergency meeting.

Government spokesman Adam Szlapka told a news outlet that “the matter is serious,” and said Tusk was briefed on the threat Sunday morning, according to a broadcaster. He stressed that Tusk remained in Warsaw and was carrying on with his official duties.

“The security services are, of course, working on the matter, and all information that can be disclosed at this stage will be provided immediately after the meeting,” he said.
